This series of pictures is my documentary photography of the Peking Opera performance of "Farewell My Concubine".

The story of "Farewell My Concubine" is about the struggle between Chu and Han. Who was the King of Chu? He was an invincible and unparalleled hero, a valiant general who could sweep through thousands of troops. But fate was not on his side. He was trapped in a ten-sided ambush at Gaixia by the Han army and was eventually surrounded and killed by Liu Bang. That night, a strong wind was blowing and Liu Bang's soldiers sang Chu songs all night long. The Chu soldiers, thinking that Liu Bang had taken over Chu, were all thrown into confusion and fled. Even the King of Chu shed tears. No matter how capable a person is, he can never overcome fate. The King of Chu, who had been a powerful figure for a lifetime, was left with only a horse and a woman at the end. He asked his horse, Zui, to escape, but it refused. He asked his concubine, Yu Ji, to leave, but she refused. Yu Ji poured him one last cup of wine, danced with a sword for him one last time, and then took her own life, remaining faithful to him until the end.
